Battlefield 1, British Soldier - Uniform and Equipment
Uniform and equipment design and production in the style of a First World War British infantry soldier depicted in the first-person shooter video game Battlefield 1 by EA DICE.
All items were purchased, altered and created from scratch to a high standard, leaving barely any detail overlooked.
Mauser C96: Step 1.
I purchased a 1:1 scale, cheap nerf gun version of the C96 pistol on eBay.
I used black spray paint for base coat followed by silver dry brushing for metallic texture. Brown acrylic was applied to the "
broom handle", washed over with black acrylic for aged wood effect.

Mauser C96: Step 2.
Chipping and scratch effects were applied to the pistol for the final touches using harsh brush strokes with metallic silver paint, giving it a well-used and worn effect.
German stick grenade and anti-tank grenade: Step 1.
Wooden poles acquired, cut to size and shaped using sanding machine and files. Grenade heads made from heavy card pots, attached to fabric softener top, painted with Olive Drab and attached to stick body. Bottle screw top attached at the bottom.

German stick grenade and anti-tank grenade: Step 2.
Additional grenade heads made using heavy card pots, modelling clay, wire and plastic lids, sprayed with a base colour of metal silver followed by olive drab.

German stick grenade and anti-tank grenade: Step 3.
Stencils were bought for the grenade heads, reading "VOR GEBRAUCH SPRENGKAPSEL EINSETZEN" ("before use insert detonator").
Each stencil was applied individually and painted over with white acrylic.

German stick grenade and anti-tank grenade: Step 4.
After all stencils were applied to the extra heads each one was weathered with silver paint for damage marks and washed with watered down black acrylic for age.
The final stage involved bundling the 6 heads together around one extra, completed stick grenade.
Trench club/mace: Step 1.
Construction of a machinery cog head piece made from cut down Pringles tube, foam board strips, for the teeth which were then attached with glue gun and coated with plaster to unify the piece.

Trench club/mace: Step 2.
Wooden pole was acquired and cut to size. The cog head piece was then attached and kill count notches added to the main body as a little extra detail.

Trench club/mace: Step 3.
'Burnt Sienna' oil paint was wiped over main body using an old rag to give the wood an aged effect. Later the whole wood body was washed over with watered down black acrylic for aged and used look.
Webbing kit: Step 1.
I searched and purchased reproduction and authentic military kit items on eBay similar to those used in WW1. These would eventually be attached together to form a webbing harness kit.
To ensure all the items were uniform in appearance I bought some
WW1 colour Blanco, a traditional and authentic solution used to paint military equipment to a uniform appearance.

Webbing kit: Step 2.
Once the kit was all pieced together the pouches and packs were stuffed to give a fully stocked and kitted appearance. This also gave the webbing harness some weight, preventing it from slipping off the body easily.
Davy Jones - Outfit and Props
Design and production of the full outfit and props belonging to those of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean
The Outfit
The outfit was constructed using and old raincoat, trousers shirt and additional fabric pieces and assorted sea shells. The hat was made from a purchased fancy-dress pirate hat with was then modified with card and additional fabric.
The Head Bust
The head piece was initially constructed from clay, formed around a styrofoam head. Once the clay was set and dried liquid latex coloured with a mixture of green, brown, red and yellow acrylic paints was applied in a time-consuming layering process.
The twenty four tentacles were individually made from clay for the main body and singular 'Cheerios' applied in pairs to replicate the suckers. The same layering process with liquid latex was involved.
Crab Arm and Leg
These pieces were constructed from foam board and wrapped with 'Mud Roc' plaster. Once dried the pieces were coloured using terracotta and black spray paints.
Davy Jones's Smoking Pipe
The pipe was constructed in segments using clay and fitted onto and around a thick metal wire to unify the piece together. Additional features added were barnacles and crab legs and claws.
Kraken Jaws - Miniture Sculpture
Miniature scale sculpture of the jaws belonging to the feared Kraken from Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean, using clay, shark teeth and acrylic paints.
